Two cops rescued from Kluang landslide now in ICU

KLUANG: Two policemen were severely injured after a bomb detonation exercise here turned disastrous, triggering a landslide today.

The cops were understood to be buried under debris from the landslide, which took place at a housing area in Jalan Tabah, Taman Sri Lambak, around 3pm.

A police report of the incident said the cops, both from the state police headquarters, are now in the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital's intensive care unit.

According to the report, one of the policemen sustained a broken hip, internal bleeding and a broken rib.

The other sustained a broken thigh.

Both men were said to be experiencing breathing difficulties.

Kluang police chief, Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said he will provide an update on the case soon.

A viral post on the incident was widely shared on social media, after the presence of ambulances at the scene raised questions among the locals.

Earlier, Johor police chief, Commissioner M. Kumar, confirmed the incident.

He said both policemen have been rushed to the hospital, and that an official statement would be released soon.
