Aerial bomb found in Taman Sri Lambak safely detonated

KLUANG: The police Bomb Disposal Unit destroyed the aerial bomb found near a housing estate in Jalan Tabah, Taman Sri Lambak, here.

This was the same bomb which saw two policemen injured on Tuesday when a landslide occurred while they were preparing it for detonation.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the detonation exercise took place earlier today without a glitch,

He said this was done by BDU members from federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, assisted by district police personnel.

On Tuesday, two policemen were digging holes to place explosives to destroy the bomb when a landslide occurred, burying both men.

Bahrin said the injured cops — corporals Muhammad Faruuqi Shamsary and Abdul Halim Zainal — were recuperating well at Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital.

Federal police Management Department assistant director (welfare) Assistant Commissioner Abdul Halid Ludin paid a visit to the policemen at the hospital today, he said.

Earlier, Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar said investigations to ascertain if standard operating procedures were adhered to before the incident were underway.
