KUALA LUMPUR: The British High Commission has named David Wallace as Acting Commissioner to Malaysia succeeding Ailsa Terry.
Terry, who was appointed to the role in August 2023, has returned to London to serve as the Prime Minister's Private Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
Wallace, who has served as Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia since July 2022, will assume his new role until a new High Commissioner is appointed in 2025.
The diplomat from Edinburgh, Scotland, said he is committed to strengthening UK-Malaysia ties.
"The UK and Malaysia share strong historical ties and deep people-to-people connections.
"I aim to build on this foundation and foster a modern partnership based on our shared interests," he said in a statement today.
Wallace holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and a masters in International Economics
He is fluent in English, German, and Polish.
In his 22-year diplomatic career, Wallace has served in Germany, Poland, South Korea and Iraq.
During his time in Malaysia, he has travelled extensively throughout the country, including climbing Mount Kinabalu.
