KUALA LUMPUR: As Malaysians are gearing up to celebrate the National Day, the frontline workers in the search and rescue (SAR) operation at Jalan Masjid India remain focused on their respective tasks.
Various methods are employed tonight to find missing tourist G. Vijaya Lakshmi who fell into a sinkhole here.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall's media unit said the Malaysia Nuclear Agency would continue to conduct scans using the ground penetrating radar (GPR).
"At the same time Indah Water Konsortium will also be conducting high-pressure jetting and rodding to clear off the obstruction in the main sewer line.
"The situation at the scene remains under control," it said in a statement on Friday.
It said the public had extended their full cooperation by not entering the areas that were cordoned off.
"The search on day eight will go on into the night," it said.
Meanwhile, DBKL through a notice, announced today that the Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman Night Market, here, will not operate on Saturday, (Aug 31) following the search operations conducted at the location.
"It is also for the implementation of soil testing works by government agencies and Indah Water Consortium in the area around Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Masjid India area to test the integrity of the roads around the scene," it said.
It said the closure was necessary to ensure the safety of traders and the public.
