Social media buzzes with excitement over Malaysia's 2024 National Day parade

PUTRAJAYA: The excitement surrounding the 2024 National Day parade was palpable on social media, with many Malaysians taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their enthusiasm.

Social media users were particularly thrilled by the sight of the country's jet fighters soaring through the sky.

@IzzatiiNasuhaa expressed her pride in watching the pilots skillfully manoeuvre the jets, despite admitting that the experience was a bit nerve-wracking.

Similarly, @starryyeol_ shared how her siblings were so excited by the jets that they immediately rushed outside as soon as they heard the roaring engines overhead.

"My little siblings were eagerly watching the jets take off from Subang to Putrajaya at home. Once they heard the loud noise, they kept running from the television to outside the house multiple times to catch a glimpse," she wrote.

Meanwhile, other social media users were captivated by the parade's emcee, likening his deep, resonant voice to that of a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announcer.

@pojiepooh commented, "It's really fun listening to the emcee of this Merdeka parade; it's like watching WWE when they commentate."

@hazirahhfatahh also praised the emcee, saying that his voice had a melodic quality that made the commentary even more engaging.

This year's National Day celebrations, themed "Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka", reflected the spirit of unity and independence.

The event featured an estimated 17,000 participants, including 57 contingents, 25 marching bands, 112 live assets, and 479 national assets, alongside an aerial display.

Putrajaya, the Federal Government's administrative centre, was once again chosen as the venue for the National Day celebrations, marking the sixth time it has hosted the event following previous celebrations in 2003, 2005, 2018, 2019, and 2023.
