#NSTviral: Clip of foreigners joining dikir barat performance win hearts of netizens [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is a country rich in cultural diversity, and this was recently showcased when a group of foreigners joined Malaysians for a vibrant performance of Dikir Barat.

The Dikir Barat performers were believed to be rehearsing for a show in celebration of Malaysia Day at Dataran Merdeka.

Dikir Barat is a traditional Malay music genre that involves poetry, chanting and singing, and has roots in Kelantan.

A 40-second video shared by @anishahira22 showed a group of foreigners enthusiastically mimicking the movements while seated on the ground, joyfully following the performers as they sang "Dikir Seribu Erti" by Halim Yazid.

The clip has garnered over 384,000 views and 30,000 likes on TikTok, with many users expressing their happiness at seeing Kelantanese culture appreciated by foreigners.



 A user @Ayie Salim said: "Congratulations anak-anak Kelantan! You have done well to bring your cultural art to the foreigners attention, even though I know foreigners can't resist music.

"They truly enjoy it. Alhamdulillah."
