'Cuci Rasuah' choreography highlights anti-corruption drive at National Day parade

PUTRAJAYA: Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that the inclusion of the "Cuci Rasuah" (Clean Up Corruption) choreography in the 2024 National Day parade was designed to showcase the unity government's commitment to tackling corruption.

He said that the choreography was aimed at fostering a culture of integrity among civil servants, administrators, and the private sector.

"This is a symbol we need to emphasise. Combating corruption is a collective effort; it requires the involvement of all parties. We hope this message resonates with the public," he said during a press conference after the parade at Dataran Putrajaya.

The "Cuci Rasuah" performance was created by artistic director and concept designer Rosnan Nordin and performed by 515 staff members from the National Department for Culture and Arts.

The routine featured a medley of patriotic songs and a new piece, also titled "Cuci Rasuah", composed by Rosnan and Anuar Abdul Razak.

Participants used cleaning tools such as brooms and trash bins as props to emphasise the performance, which was dedicated to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's anti-corruption efforts.

The 2024 National Day celebrations, themed "Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka", reflected unity and independence.

The event showcased some 17,000 participants, including 57 contingents, 25 marching bands, 112 live assets, and 479 national assets, alongside an aerial display.

Putrajaya, the Federal Government's administrative centre, hosted the National Day celebrations for the sixth time, following previous events in 2003, 2005, 2018, 2019, and 2023.
