Grab celebrates National Day by championing diversity and inclusion

GRAB Malaysia participated in National Day parades nationwide, showcasing its commitment to celebrating the diversity of Malaysians who are driving the nation forward.

With its theme of #GrabBersamaMalaysia, Grab contingents all over Malaysia – made up of individuals from all walks of life – celebrated the power of diversity and inclusion.

This year, Grab embraced the National Day theme of 'Malaysia MADANI: Jiwa Merdeka' by gathering nearly 500 Malaysians, including the company's longest-serving driver and delivery partners, as well as employees from Grab Malaysia and GXBank.

Together, they marched in the National Day parade in Putrajaya and participated in five state parades in Johor Baru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuantan, Melaka, and Penang.

A TRIBUTE TO FRONTLINE HEROES

Leading the National Day contingent in Putrajaya was Grab Malaysia's director of operations and mobility Rashid Shukor.

Reflecting on the event, he said: "As a homegrown brand, we believe it's vital to celebrate our nation's rich diversity and heritage and to acknowledge the tireless dedication of Malaysians who have helped shape the nation.

"We wanted to use this opportunity to honour our driver and delivery partners on the frontlines. Their unwavering commitment and service are the heartbeat of Grab. Despite our diverse backgrounds, we are united by a shared vision – to play a part in building a better tomorrow for Malaysia."

The parade also highlighted Grab's commitment to inclusivity, with over 3,100 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) actively earning an income on the platform.

Among them, Siti Fatimah, one of Grab Malaysia's longest-serving PWD driver-partners, shared her pride in participating in the National Day parade.

"Participating in this year's National Day parade fills me with immense joy.

"As a driver-partner with a physical disability, this opportunity carries great significance for me. I'm not just representing Grab but the entire PWD community on a national stage – showing that even with our disabilities, we too can contribute to the nation's development," she said.

CELEBRATING UNITY AND PROGRESS

The National Day celebrations were also a moment of reflection for many Grab partners.

Nurasma Omar, a delivery-partner who joined the Putrajaya parade, said: "Taking part in the National Day parade was truly special for me. It's a day to remind us of our shared history, our struggles, and the incredible progress we've made to emerge stronger as a nation.

"As we made our way through the streets, I couldn't help but feel connected to all the other Malaysians celebrating this day."

Standing in solidarity with Grab Malaysia were employees from GXBank, Malaysia's first digital bank. Together, they presented a united front, marching side by side in the parade and sharing a common vision of shaping a future where technology empowers a more inclusive nation for all Malaysians.

As a gesture of appreciation, participants and spectators at Putrajaya were given free GrabFood vouchers, further cementing the spirit of community and gratitude.
