American Mr. T composes special song to celebrate Merdeka Day

KUALA LUMPUR: In a heartfelt gesture, an American known as Mr.T, who travelled to Malaysia, composed a special song titled A Merdeka Song to celebrate Malaysia's National Day on August 31.

Shared on TikTok via the account @random.4.you, the song captures the Merdeka spirit with lyrics such as:

"Rice field golden under a blazing sun, Dances in the village children having fun, From Borneo jungles to the city's bright lights, Merdeka flame burning so bright.

Performed in country music style, the song highlights the unity and pride of Malaysians, regardless of their background.

The accompanying video features iconic Malaysian landmarks, including the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), the Sultan Abdul Samad Building in Kuala Lumpur, and the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque in Selangor.

Mr. T's admiration for Malaysia is evident in lines like: "Malaysia, oh how we love and cheer, In our hearts you're forever near," and "Loving this land till the day I die."

In another tribute, South African content creator Kierran Allen shared a video of fireworks over Kuala Lumpur on Instagram, expressing how lucky he felt to be in the city on such a special day.

He wished Malaysia a happy National Day, honouring the strength and unity that led to its independence on August 31, 1957.

During his stay, Allen explored Kuala Lumpur's attractions, including Batu Caves, Thean Hou Temple, and the bustling Petaling Street.

He also enjoyed the city's vibrant night markets and the frequent afternoon showers.

Allen remarked, "Walking in the rain isn't ideal, but it cools you down," reflecting on the drastic shift from the morning heat to afternoon downpours.

Meanwhile, Indonesian TikTok content creator @Kang Doel produced a special song titled "Senyum Malaysia," which has garnered 10,500 views and 654 likes.

The lyrics beautifully express admiration for Malaysia:

Senyummu Malaysia serlahkan cintamu, Bagai tetesan embun dari Syurgawi. Takkan ku lupakan kenangan semalam, keindahan dari wajah berseri.

Kang Doel's heartfelt tribute received a warm response from Malaysians, who praised his genuine admiration for the country's beauty during National Month.

"A good song comes from a sincere heart. Let's make this go viral." commented TikTok user @bosiskm.

"Thank you, Kang, from the people of Malaysia. You are truly a creative, talented, and insightful person," added @Matdromey. – BERNAMA
