Two Merdeka babies celebrated on their first National Day

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Two Merdeka babies — a boy and a girl — are guaranteed extra special birthdays from now on.

The infants, born on National Day at the Columbia Asia Hospital, here, were celebrated in a ceremony held by the hospital's management.

Tee Wee Wee, 23, from Taman Pulai Utama, delivered her first child, a healthy baby girl weighing 2.54kg, at 4.03pm.

Her husband, Wang Wei Wei, 34, said their daughter's birthday was extra special as it coincided with Malaysia's independence day.

About half an hour later Nurhaniza Syamira Zainal Abidin, 32, a staff nurse from Kampung Melayu, in Gelang Patah, here, welcomed her second child, a 3.54kg baby boy.

Her soldier husband Muhammad Shafiq Salleh, 29, said their son was due in September, but both he and his wife were thrilled by the early arrival.

Both deliveries were smooth and complication-free.

The hospital's chief executive officer Dr Ding Eng Li said, to celebrate the babies' birth in conjunction with the country's 67th anniversary, their mothers were presented with gift packs.
