AMPANG: A police deputy superintendent pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal intimidation in separate magistrates' courts today.
Ravindhran Kutty Krishnan, 52, is accused of sending graphic images of a murder via WhatsApp to two men in April.
Ravindhran appeared before Magistrates Normaizan Rahim and Amalina Basirah Md Top.
He faces two counts of deliberately intimidating two electrical contractors, aged 42 and 50, by sending them disturbing pictures of a murder through his WhatsApp account.
He committed the offences at 7.58pm and 7.57pm at the Cahaya LRT station and KW Food Street in Jalan Pandan Indah on April 27.
The charges under Section 506 of the Penal Code provides a jail term up to seven years; or fine; or both upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Wan Nur Iman Wan Ahmad Afzal and Norhidayah Abdullah Sani each offered a bail of RM8,000 with one surety.
Each court allowed Ravindhran a bail of RM4,000 with one surety.
As additional conditions, he must report to the nearest police station once a monthly, barred from harassing the victims and prosecution witnesses and to surrender his passport to the court.
Mention for both cases was set for Oct 16. Ravindhran is represented by lawyer Datuk Ahmad Zaharil Muhaiyar.
