GEORGE TOWN: There are various laws and conventions governing the use of raw water resources involving more than one country or state, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said.
Chow said it was ultimately up to the court to decide on the matter.
"I have commented on this issue numerous times and my answer remains the same.
"It is up to the Kedah state government to initiate legal action and we will respond accordingly.
"If he (Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor) only talks, then we will also only talk.
"If he brings the matter to court, then we will answer to the court," he told newsmen here today.
He said this when asked on the state's chances of winning in an impending legal action to be brought by the Kedah state government against his government over the ongoing raw water supply compensation dispute.
Yesterday, Chow told the New Straits Times that he was ready to face his Kedah counterpart in court over the ongoing raw water supply compensation dispute.
Responding to Sanusi's intention to initiate legal action, Chow said: "Let him go ahead. I will see him in court."
Earlier yesterday, Sanusi said that Kedah was preparing to sue the Penang government to seek compensation for raw water usage.
He said that Penang's insistence on legal action left him with no choice but to bring the matter to court.
