Sanusi lifts veil on talk of second wife

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has publicly spoken about speculation that he married a policewoman investigating the theft of rare earth elements (REE) in Kedah.

"Almost being caught.. Alhamdulillah, I have managed to capture the person who wanted to catch me," he said in a speech at the SG4 conference in Bangi yesterday.

"Do you understand?" he said with a broad smile.

The Kedah Menteri Besar's remarks drew laughter from the crowd who gave him a round of applause.

Sanusi's cryptic remark follows claims on social media that the Perikatan Nasional man recently tied the knot with a policewoman in her 40s.

The police officer is purportedly a member of the investigating team probing the theft of REE in Buki Enggang, Sik.

The New Straits Times has learned that Sanusi's first wife, Tok Puan Jusmalailani Jusoh, has consented to the marriage.

"The solemnisation ceremony was a simple one attended by close family members in Alor Star," said a source with knowledge on the matter.

Sanusi, 50, married Jusmalailani in 1999. The couple have five children.
