Sanusi: Yes, I married a policewoman but she's not an IO in REE probe [WATCH]

PADANG TERAP: Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has confirmed recent speculation about his marriage to a policewoman.

However, the Kedah Menteri Besar clarified that his second wife was not part of the team investigating the theft of rare earth elements (REE) in Kedah, as some had suggested.

Addressing rumours, he expressed frustration over false accusations, including claims of him being caught for "khalwat" (close proximity).

He said the marriage was conducted in accordance with all customs and regulations.

"Yes, I am married to a policewoman, and it was my wife, Tok Puan Jusmalailani Jusoh, who initiated the 'meminang' (proposal) ceremony months ago. Alhamdulillah, the solemnisation ceremony was conducted properly, with my wife and children in attendance. There is no issue here," he said during a press conference after handing over land titles to 462 recipients in the Padang Terap district at Felcra Belimbing Tolak today.

Sanusi further clarified that his second wife was involved in an investigation related to an arson attack on a vacant container at the Menteri Besar Official Residence, Seri Mentaloon, in October 2022, and not in the REE case.

"I met her for the first and last time when she came to the official residence to record my statement on the arson incident. Following that, she became friends with my wife, and they attended Quran recital and religious classes together. There was no contact or relationship between us until my wife proposed to her," he explained.

Sanusi urged the public to respect his family's privacy and to stop speculating about his personal life.

"I generally keep my personal life private, and I hope this explanation puts an end to the rumours," he added.
