VLADIVOSTOK: The war in Russia and Ukraine must be stopped immediately and resolved through negotiations, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said this was conveyed directly to Russian President Vladimir Putin during their bilateral meeting as well as a dinner session on Wednesday, in conjunction with the 9th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF 2024) here.
The conflict, if allowed to drag on, will continue to affect the world economy, including Malaysia, which has adopted an open trade policy, Anwar told the Malaysian media at a press conference before wrapping up his two-day working visit here by attending EEF 2024's plenary session.
"At the international level, of course, we also touch on the issue of Ukraine, and we urge that there is a willingness between the two sides to hold negotiations to resolve this issue," he added.
"This is because the side effects will arise in terms of the increase in the price of goods, the cost of living if it is allowed to continue," he said.
