Pikom honours leading tech innovators

KUALA LUMPUR: The highly anticipated Pikom Digital Excellence Awards (PDEA) 2024 concluded today with a grand ceremony held at Sunway Lagoon Resort, honouring the nation's most outstanding contributors to the digital ecosystem.

This year's awards ceremony, which opened for nominations in June, culminated in the presentation of 34 prestigious awards in the presence of the Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

The PDEA is a hallmark of recognition for excellence in the digital and tech sectors, highlighting the achievements and innovations that are driving Malaysia's digital future.

The 2024 edition was a reflection of the relentless pursuit of innovation and leadership, showcased by both corporate entities and individual leaders.

Pikom chairman Ong Chin Seong said the award ceremony is a testament to the creativity, commitment, and excellence that define Malaysia's digital landscape.

"We have been organising this since 1989 and it has been 35 years of recognising the industry players. The award was a recognition of the companies' contribution to the industry.

"This year is totally different. What we do is we are selecting the current trend of the information and communication technology that is most impactful to the industry," he told The New Straits Times.

The chairman said that the awards elevate excellence within the industry, encouraging other players and service providers to raise their standards in order to remain competitive in the following years and within the industry as a whole.

"It also ensures that the new generation is putting in the effort to continuously improve things. As a result, we can expect a lot of creativity and innovation emerging in the industry," he added.

Throughout the rigorous nomination and judging process, the PDEA saw fierce competition among some of the best in the tech industry.

The ceremony recognises trailblazing companies and individuals who have set new benchmarks in their respective fields, inspiring the broader digital community.

Meanwhile, PDEA organising chair Alex Liew said the event reflects the relentless pursuit of excellence by brightest minds in the digital realm.

"These awards are not merely accolades but a testament to the hard work, creativity, and commitment that drive our digital tech ecosystem forward.

"Tonight is not just about recognising individual successes but also inspiring all of us to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible," he said.
