KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-elected Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Association of Malaysia (SME Malaysia) president Chin Chee Seong has called for stronger partnerships between the association, its members and government agencies to provide continuous growth and resilience for the country's SMEs.
He said the association, through collaboration and collective action, would continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the economy and ensuring SMEs' prosperity nationwide.
"Only through collaboration can the association continue to thrive and grow," Chin said in a statement.
He also called on the newly-elected council and its members to uphold the association's legacy of excellence while intensifying efforts to drive innovation, expand opportunities, and advocate for policies that support the advancement of the industry.
Chin was earlier today elected as SME Malaysia's new president for the 2024 - 2026 term following its annual general meeting.
Datuk Seri Ricky Yaw Chan Chow was elected as deputy president while K. Anpananthan, Siow Lee Ching, Datuk Ada Poon Yin Hoong, Datuk Naina Mohamed and Datuk Tan Hock Chye were elected as vice presidents.
Dennix Yeow Wah Fuong was elected as the new national secretary-general and will be assisted by Mah Che Beng as the national assistant secretary-general.
Meanwhile, Eng Kin Hoong and Tsen Mun Ket were appointed as the treasurer and deputy treasurer, respectively.
SME Malaysia also welcomed 14 new national council members, namely Aaron Teh Kok Seong, Anthony Dass, Camelia Loh, Cheah Kok Hoong, Chee Teck Yoon, Datuk Danny Tan Eng Ching, Datuk Lau Chi Chiang, Desmond Anil Raymond Norbert, Lan May Khay, Ong Suu Kiek, Tay Chok Hong, Teh Gaik Cheong, Tong Yoke Lean and Yup Ming Fon.
