BN candidate Syed Hussien vows to continue late rep's work

KLUANG: Barisan Nasional candidate for the Mahkota by-election, Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah, 40, has vowed to continue the legacy of the late Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, the seat's former assemblyman.

The by-election is on Sept 28.

The Kluang Umno Youth chief said: "Sharifah Azizah made significant contributions to the Mahkota constituency, and as a party member, I will continue what she has done.

"God willing, I will do my best."

He said this after the launch of the BN machinery and the announcement of the candidate yesterday (Sept 7).

The announcement was made by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Syed Hussien, a father of two, holds a business degree from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and has over 10 years of experience serving with Umno.

The Kluang Municipal Council member (Seri Impian zone) served as Youth chief for the Kampung Palembang Lama branch from 2013 to 2022.

Sharifah Azizah, who died on Aug 2, won the seat by a 5,166-vote majority in the 2022 state election.
