Assistant medical officer, nurses arrested for RM146,000 overtime fraud

KOTA KINABALU: An assistant medical officer and four nurses have been arrested by the Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over false claims concerning overtime work worth RM146,000.

The five were detained when they arrived at the Sabah MACC office at around 9.40am today.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspects, consisting of four women and a man in their 30s, are believed to have submitted false claims for overtime work between 2020 and 2021.

However, it is alleged that the suspects did not perform any overtime work.

Confirming the arrests, Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

He added that all the suspects have been released on MACC bail and are expected to be charged at the Sessions Court here on Thursday (Sept 12).
