MUAR: The family of the school bus driver who uploaded a video of a primary school student and referred to her as his 'crush', is planning to take legal action against individuals, including celebrities, who are accused of inciting suspicion and criticism towards him during his detention.
Pro bono lawyer Datuk Ahmad Zaharil Muhaiyar said the family faced severe backlash from netizens following the case.
However, he said the individuals involved still have the opportunity to apologise to school bus driver's family if they wished to avoid legal proceedings.
"It all depends on the family members. Various criticisms have been directed at the school bus driver on social media.
"Of course, we have identified them... there are many of them, and the family has instructed that they be sued. Why not sue them? They (the family) had no chance to defend themselves at the time.
"Throughout his detention, he was harshly criticised without mercy," he said when met after handling the bail process for the driver at the Muar Court Complex today.
Ahmad Zaharil said they were also working to retrieve the driver's bus which has been seized by police for further investigation.
He added that they will also seek to appeal for a reduction in the bail amount.
"I sympathise with what he is going through, and after meeting him, I asked him to be patient as I will assist him.
"It is unfair for neizens to make various assumptions on social media without knowing him personally," he said.
