SIK: The elderly man who succumbed to organ failure after a hornet attack in Kampung Jelutong here yesterday was stung 120 times.
Ahmad Dahman, 73, had a history of hypertension, high cholesterol and stroke.
Sik police chief Deputy Superintendent Abdull Razak Osman said after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) failed, Ahmad was pronounced dead at 9.50pm at Sik Hospital.
"When he arrived at the hospital, he was conscious. A medical check found about 120 hornet stings on his body.
"The cause of death is massive hornet sting envenomation with multi-organ failure, compounded by his health issues."
Abdull Razak said during the 4.30pm incident, Ahmad was harvesting 'dokong' fruit with his son.
"Ahmad was attacked by hornets as he came down from the tree. His whole body and face were stung.
"He was rushed to Sik Hospital with the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Force at 5.40pm. He died later that day."
