GISB Mekah restaurant refutes 'water from beards', 'foot water' allegations

KUALA LUMPUR: Nur Malaysia Al-Haram, a restaurant affiliated with GISB Holdings has issued a statement addressing recent allegations of contaminating food at their restaurants.

"We, the staff of Nur Malaysia Al-Haram, a company registered in Mekah and guided by GISB Holding, wish to address the allegations made against GISB Holding.

"We categorically deny these accusations and the allegations made by certain parties regarding the current issue, particularly in Malaysia," the statement, read by a member of the staff said.

The posting was uploaded to Ikhwanews.com Facebook page yesterday.

"We at Nur Malaysia Al-Haram completely refute the claims related to the use of "water from beards," "foot water," and similar substances being mixed into food.

"We are willing to swear by Allah and the Prophet. If we are lying, we will be 'laknat' by Allah. Although these allegations may harm our business, we hope the public will assess the situation fairly," the statement said.

Earlier today, it was reported that the company has been removed from the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2024, the world's largest halal exhibition, which commenced yesterday (Tuesday).

It is understood that the company, currently under police investigation for alleged child exploitation at its welfare homes, was allocated an 81-square-metre space at the exhibition, according to a MIHAS 2024 floor plan document.

However, GISB's exhibit - occupying a space at least eight times larger than a regular booth - was found vacant on Tuesday, despite having been properly set up the day before.
