Two enforcement officers remanded in Negri Sembilan for counter setting

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission in Negri Sembilan has remanded two enforcement officers, including the main suspect, for allegedly conspiring with a syndicate to bring in foreigners through counter-setting methods.

Magistrate Fairuz Syuhada Amran allowed the main suspect to be remanded for five days while the second suspect was remanded for seven days.

This follows an application made by MACC at the Seremban Civil Court, on Thursday morning.

Sources revealed the two male suspects aged in their 30s and 40s were believed to have conspired with syndicate agents to bring in foreigners who arrived through KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

"Both suspects were arrested at the Negri Sembilan MACC office at 3am and 5.40pm yesterday when they appeared to have their statements recorded.

"They are believed to have received bribes from syndicate agents in addition to arranging for a special counters to release foreigners without following the proper checks at the airports," the source said.

Negri Sembilan MACC director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail when contacted confirmed the arrest of the two suspects and said the case was investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
