[UPDATED] PM condemns pager attack in Lebanon, says it's inhumane

PUCHONG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim condemned the slew of attacks in Lebanon, targeting pagers which injured hundreds of Hizbollah members since Tuesday.

"The Foreign Ministry has issued a statement in condemning the atrocious attacks by Israel on civilians using pagers.

"They are not soldiers; they are women and children.

"We strongly condemn this," he told reporters after performing Friday prayers in Kampung Pasir today.

Foreign Ministry said it was actively monitoring the situation in Lebanon following the recent incidents involving exploding devices in various locations.

It said no Malaysians have been affected or involved in the incident.

Latest figures today revealed that 37 people were killed and almost 3,000 were injured when pagers used by Hizbollah members, including fighters and medics, detonated simultaneously within two days across Lebanon.
