KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Rozita Che Wan, 51, is demanding an apology from several individuals who are also owners of social media accounts accused of insulting her daughter, Aaishah Dhia Rana's appearance.
Rozita, or more better known as Che Ta, said she filed a report at the Kota Damansara police station and with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) against several individuals involved, accompanied by her lawyer yesterday.
"I will take action under the Children's Act, as it is an offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, and they can also face defamation lawsuits. A letter of summons will follow soon after.
"Even though some have deactivated their accounts, it's not an issue as the police and MCMC will fully cooperate with me to track down the owners of these accounts," she said.
Regarding the case, Rozita said she is taking legal action to educate social media users to be more responsible.
"Social media users need to think before writing comments or posting content on their accounts.
"Don't think that using a 'private account' or a fake account means the authorities can't find out who the real owner is. I will track them down to the ends of the earth," she said.
Che Ta added that social media account users also need to be more sensible and not freely make comments, as not everything can be taken as a joke.
"This issue involves a child and the dignity of women. Social media users should use their common sense before leaving comments.
"As a mother, I want to protect my child because sexual jokes involving children are not something to be taken lightly," she said.
Che Ta mentioned that the police will work with her lawyer to track down those who made the comments, including a TikTok user who posted a picture of her with Aaisyah, which garnered over 2,200 comments on the post.
