King sheds tears while speaking about late son with Xi

KUALA LUMPUR: HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, became emotional when mentioning his late son during a state visit to China on Sept 19.

During his four-day state visit to China, beginning Sept 19, Sultan Ibrahim met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming, who was also present during the meeting, said it was the most touching moment of the visit when the King mentioned his late son, Tunku Abdul Jalil Iskandar Ibrahim.

Nga said His Majesty also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to China.

China had assisted the late prince in undergoing a liver transplant there. Although the operation was successful, the late prince ultimately did not survive his illness.

The fatherly love expressed by His Majesty towards his late son deeply moved both Xi and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

"They all felt that Sultan Ibrahim is a father who loves his son dearly. He is also someone willing to reach out to other nations to strengthen the bonds between them," Sin Chew quoted Nga as saying.
