KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was moved to tears as he spoke about his daughter's wedding which will be held this weekend.
Al-Sultan Abdullah was seen wiping away tears and was unable to continue his decree while praying for his daughter's marriage to be blessed and proceed smoothly.
Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah will tie the knot with Fd Idzham Fd Iskandar this weekend.
Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, who was standing beside him, then continued the decree.
"Hopefully, the ceremony (wedding) will go on smoothly with blessings and God's grace. The bond built through this marriage will last...(Al-Sultan Abdullah wiped away his tears and told Tengku Hassanal to continue) .
Tengku Hassanal continued reading the speech, asking for the marriage to last, and called everyone to pray so that Pahang and its people will always be protected by Allah.
Tengku Hassanal delivered the decree during the opening of the Al-Falah mosque and 'doa selamat' ceremony in conjunction with the royal wedding at Sungai Isap 2 here yesterday.
The royal wedding of Tengku Afzan and Fd Idzham will be held between Aug 22 and Aug 25 and will be broadcast live at Tasek Kotasas and Kuantan City Council field 1.
Earlier, in his address, Al-Sultan Abdullah reminded Muslims, especially in Pahang, to always deepen their knowledge and understanding of Islam, in line with the beliefs of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah school of thought and urged them to refer to accurate sources in case they have any doubts to avoid from being involved in deviant teachings.
"Lately, we were shocked by the resurgence of some teachings that had previously been declared deviant by fatwa committees across the state. Although there is clear evidence of their deviation, some quarters are trying to revive these teachings,
"If there is any doubt or confusion about any teachings or practices, do not hesitate to refer to the religious authorities such as muftis, Pahang Islamic Religious Department, and Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council....not to the ustaz (religious teacher) and ustazah on Facebook and Tiktok," he said.
Meanwhile, Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed his concern with the various problems within the society such as tragic murder cases, sexual crimes, drugs, cyberbullying and corruption.
He urged mosques to take a more proactive role in addressing social issues by serving as a centre of knowledge, agency for moral and ethical development, and acting as social support centres.
"Mosques need to play the role as a medium of conflict prevention and solution, not the stage that triggers conflict. Mosques have to be an agent of well-being and long-lasting health awareness," he said.
