MCA Sabah must rise, take lead in regaining Chinese votes, says Bung

KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) in Sabah plays a crucial role in helping Barisan Nasional to regain voter confidence, particularly in constituencies with a significant Chinese electorate.

Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said the party, which was deeply rooted in the Chinese community's struggles, must rise to the occasion and demonstrate capable leadership.

"MCA plays a very important role, especially in areas where the majority of voters are from the Chinese community.

"As a party that has long championed this community, MCA must show strong leadership and the ability to meet current demands," he said in the Sabah MCA annual general meeting here today.

His speech was read by his political secretary Datuk Abdul Aziz Julkarnain.

Bung added that there was a need to address key issues affecting the Chinese community in Sabah, including education, economic well-being and social welfare, which he described as areas that could not be overlooked.

He also expressed optimism ahead of the 17th Sabah state election (PRN17), urging all BN component parties to unite and work together in crafting a robust strategy to regain support.

"We must come back with new energy and a more thorough strategy. PRN17 will be a major test for all of us, but I believe with commitment and determination from everyone, we can change the fate of Sabah BN and once again lead the state with renewed strength and trust," he said.
