LUMUT: Two people were killed in an accident at KM202 of the West Coast Expressway (southbound) early today.
The victims were identified as Razali Sahad, 48 and Muhammad Alizzat Narayi, 28.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they received a distress call at 3.33am and a team of firemen from Sitiawan rushed to the scene.
"The accident involving a 5-tonne truck carrying office supplies which collided with the rear of a trailer.
"There were two victims, the driver and a male passenger of the 5-ton truck, who were trapped and pronounced dead at the scene by health authorities.
"Firemen had to extricate the trapped victims using rescue tools and handed the bodies of the victims to the police for further action," he said, adding that the operation ended at 6.05am.
He added the bodies were taken to the Seri Manjung Hospital for post-mortem examination.
