Flood worsens in Kedah, number rises to 8,015

ALOR STAR: The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has increased to 8,015 as flood conditions continue to worsen today.

The number increased from 7,961 victims from 2,577 families in 37 relief centres across five districts in the state as og 11pm last night.

Data from the Social Welfare Department's Disaster Information app shows Kota Setar as the worst-hit district, with evacuees rising to 5,388 from 1,785 families in 19 PPS, compared to 5,334 evacuees from 1,769 families.

Meanwhile, conditions in Pendang remains unchanged as 1,604 evacuees from 488 families still sheltered in 10 PPS.

Similarly Kubang Pasu has 671 evacuees from 217 families and Pokok Sena continues to shelter 233 evacuees from 77 families.

Bandar Baharu has also seen no change, with 119 evacuees from 26 families still affected.

The Public Infobanjir portal reports that only one river in the state remains at a dangerous level—Sungai Anak Bukit, where water levels continue to rise.
