LAP employee rescued after being buried in sinkhole

PASIR SALAK: A Perak Water Board (LAP) employee was reportedly buried in a sinkhole incident on Jalan Pasir Salak, near Seberang Perak, today.

The 30-year-old man was engaged in pipe work when the incident occurred.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said that firefighters from the Kampung Gajah Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched after receiving a distress call at 2.21pm.

"Upon arrival, we found that the victim's right leg was buried in the ground up to his thigh.

"Fortunately, members of the public had already rescued him before our team arrived, and he was subsequently handed over to medical personnel for further treatment," he said, adding that the operation concluded at 3.12pm.
