Perkeso empowers over 8,000 job seekers in Kedah through MyFutureJobs initiative

LANGKAWI: The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) has successfully assisted 8,318 job seekers in Kedah, placing them in various fields during the first nine months of this year.

State Perkeso Employment Insurance System chief Syafarina Othman said that these individuals were placed under the MyFutureJobs initiative.

"From January to early this month, we facilitated the placement of 8,318 individuals through 219 career carnivals and open interviews organised by Perkeso on a weekly and monthly basis. The job placements span various sectors and maintain a gender balance," she said at a press conference following the launch of the MyFutureJobs Tourism and Entrepreneurship Career Carnival today.

The two-day carnival, co-organised by the Langkawi Tourism Academy (LTA) and Perkeso, was officiated by Langkawi Assistant District Officer (Administration and Finance) Mohd Hafizuddin Bahdun.

Meanwhile, Hafizuddin said that 572 job opportunities in tourism and hospitality were offered by 18 employers during the carnival.

"Among the prominent employers were AirAsia, Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, The Danna Langkawi, Holiday Villa Resort & Beach Club Langkawi, and Lunas Langkawi Shipyard Sdn Bhd.

"This carnival is expected to significantly impact the tourism and hospitality sectors, boosting the local economy and preparing the industry for Visit Kedah Year 2025 (VK2025)," he added.
