Hajiji: Sabah logged 7,448 job placements as of Sept 27

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 7,448 job placements as of Sept 27, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said these were the result of the government's efforts through the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) and various agencies to enhance the employability of Sabahans.

However, Hajiji said there were many challenges to overcome, including improving the quality of training and ensuring that the skills provided aligned with industry needs.

"I call for continued strategic collaboration between the government, educational institutions and the private sector to expand job opportunities and provide more relevant training to the people of this state," he said during the launch of the Perkeso Mega Madani Myfuturejobs Career Carnival for Sabah 2024 at the Sabah International Convention Centre here today.

He also called for the cooperation of all parties, including government and private agencies, to work together in reducing joblessness and ensuring that every person has equal job opportunities that match their skills and talents.

Hajiji said these efforts were crucial to strengthening the economy, improving the standard of living, reducing poverty and ensuring social welfare.

He said the Sabah Jobs Portal, which is managed by the Human Resource Development Department and the MYFutureJobs Portal, and introduced by Perkeso, would be merged to provide more efficient job search services.

Hajiji said the state government was on the right track through the Human Capital Development Blueprint for Sabah (2021-2035) to ensure that the skills and expertise of youth and the workforce remained relevant while serving as a guideline for holistic human capital development programmes in the state.

He said the state government would continue to implement employability and skills training programmes, including technical and vocational education and training, which align with industry needs, and would improve facilities and training tools at training institutes under state and federal agencies.
