KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reiterated that the government's efforts to address the demands under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are driven by commitment, not by fear of losing support.
He said it was motivated by the desire to fulfil promises made by previous leaders.
"(Fulfilling MA63 demands) was one of the initial directives I set when I became prime minister, despite the criticisms.
"(Works Minister Datuk Seri and Kapit MP) Alexander (Nanta Linggi) knows this.
"Sometimes the opposition criticises me, alleging that I'm afraid of losing support or that I fear being threatened," he was quoted as saying in FMT.
Anwar, who is in Kapit, Sarawak, for four programmes, said there had been no threats against him, only suggestions, which he never felt intimidated by.
In politics, he said, leaders must honour their commitments, many of which are legacies from past leaders, he said.
