ALOR STAR: The family of 62-year-old Sabari Baharom remains hopeful for his return, 27 days after he was reported missing.
"We still hold out hope that our father is alive as we await updates," said his eldest daughter, Suraiya Izzati, 29.
Sabari, a retired financial officer, was last seen leaving his home in Kampung Mengkuang Tengah, Kuala Pegang, Baling, on Sept 3.
Suraiya said she and her family now turn to prayers, hoping for the best: "We perform special prayers and recite Surah Yassin, hoping for his safe return."
She added that her younger siblings are actively spreading the word on social media to find new leads.
"We have fully cooperated with the police in their investigation since Sept 3. We are very worried for his well-being and miss him dearly," she said.
The family realised Sabari was missing when they could not reach his mobile phone, and transactions from his bank account were detected two days after his disappearance.
His son, Muhammad Amir Hakimi Sabari, 25, believes his father was abducted after discovering money from Sabari's account had been transferred to a third-party account shortly after he went missing.
Sabari's car was later found burned in Belantik, Sik, but there have been no signs of him since.
