PEKAN: A fishing trip by three friends ended in tragedy when one of them went missing while casting their net in Sungai Lepar near Kampung Batu 8 here, today.
The missing victim has been identified as Muhamad Saifol Azmi Adiauddin, 33.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said the Peramu fire station was alerted to the incident at 1.20pm before seven firemen were deployed to the spot.
"Saifol Azmi was casting the net with two friends when he was believed to have drowned. His friends then called for assistance.
"Firemen are conducting a surface search along the river while five divers from the Pekan fire station Water Rescue Team are also attempting to locate the victim."
