Veteran singer Khadijah Ibrahim injured in accident in Beaufort

BEAUFORT: Veteran singer Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim was injured after being involved in a road accident while travelling from Brunei Darussalam to Kota Kinabalu this afternoon.

In the incident, which occurred at around 5.28pm, Khadijah's four-wheel drive collided with a multi-purpose vehicle near Taman Kinamas, along the Beaufort-Kota Kinabalu road.

Alongside Khadijah, two others in the pickup truck, Baharuddin Hassan, 70, and Kharnita Adrianti Aminudin, 40, were also injured.

However, the condition of the singer is reported to be stable, with all three able to exit the vehicle on their own before the arrival of firemen who were dispatched to assist the victims.

Khadijah was reported to have sustained only minor injuries and a small cut on her hand. She is believed to have been driving the vehicle involved.

She also managed to inform the firemen and police who arrived at the scene about her upcoming concert at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Nov 1.

The driver and passenger of the MPV, identified as Liaw Lee Jin, 30, and Fong Pak Man, 60, were also reported injured.

Meanwhile,  Beaufort Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Hasbullah Nenggok said they received an emergency call at 5.29pm.

Ten firemen were dispatched to the scene along with a vehicle led by operations commander Irwan Abdul.

"Upon arrival, the operations commander reported an accident involving two vehicles.

"There were five victims involved who successfully exited the vehicles before the Fire Brigade team arrived at the scene.

"The victims were taken to Beaufort Hospital by bystanders for further treatment," he said.

The operation concluded at 6.10pm.
