'Political stability for Sabah folk's welfare comes first'

KOTA KINABALU: The dispute between Umno Youth Chief Dr Akmal Saleh and DAP leader Teresa Kok is a personal issue.

Datuk Aziz Julkarnain said the situation between Akmal and Teresa should not serve as a precondition for cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in facing the Sabah election.

He was commenting on a statement by Sabah DAP's Datuk Chan Foong Hin asking the party not to resort to personal attack and public dispute that could affect the tie-up.

Aziz, who is Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin's political secretary, said the party is not desperate to collaborate with DAP.

However, he said, it prioritises political stability for the welfare of the people of Sabah.

"We are not eager, but this is a matter of responsibility to ensure that politics in this country remains stable for the benefit of the people."

He said Sabah Umno hopes all parties will focus on constructive cooperation for political stability and the welfare of the people of Sabah.

"All political differences should be resolved maturely and responsibly."
