LIPIS: A tanker lorry ferrying palm oil crashed into an electric pole causing the detached trailer to land in a stream at KM2 of Jalan Benta- Jerantut near Lubuk Gayong here today.
The 36-year-old Nissan UD driver from Felda Jengka 11 in Jerantut sustained injuries in the 9am incident.
Lipis police chief Superintendent Ismail Man said investigations revealed the trailer carrying 42 tonnes of palm oil was travelling from a factory at Kampung Damak, Jerantut towards Semenyih, Selangor.
"The driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle before it swerved towards the left side of the road and crashed into an electric pole. The detached tanker rolled and ended up in the nearby stream.
"The driver sustained back injuries and was taken to Benta health clinic for treatment. The case is investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959," he said in a statement today.
Ismail urged witnesses to assist investigations by contacting the Lipis police station at09-3121999 or go to any nearest police stations.
