Malaysians in Iraq, Iran advised to register with embassies

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysians in Iraq and Iran should register themselves immediately with the Malaysian embassies there through the e-Konsular platform.

The Foreign Ministry said this today following the rising tensions in the middle east region.

In a statement today, it advised Malaysians to stay alert, be prepared for possible flight disruptions and adjust their travel plans accordingly.

It also encouraged Malaysians to stay in close contact with their respective embassies for updates and guidance.

"Both the Malaysian embassies in Baghdad and Tehran are in regular contact with registered citizens to ensure their safety and offer timely updates," it said.

For consular assistance, Malaysians in Iraq can reach the Malaysian Embassy in Baghdad, located on the Mezzanine Floor of the Babylon Rotana Hotel, Al Abassi Street, Al Jadria, Baghdad and the embassy can be contacted through phone at +964 786 497 0086 or +964 786 497 0087, or by email at mwbaghdad@kln.gov.my.

In Iran, the Malaysian Embassy is situated at No.25, 2nd Alley, North Zarafshan Street, Shahrak-e-Gharb, Tehran. Malaysians there can call +98 21 88072444, +98 21 88078606, or +98 9121130144, or through email addresses mwtehran@kln.gov.my or mwconsular.teh@gmail.com," the statement said.

The ministry added it will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide further updates to ensure the safety and well-being of all Malaysians in the affected regions.
