Another Sabah DAP lawmaker violates party's policy by accepting Datukship

KOTA KINABALU: Another DAP assemblyman has been conferred the Datuk title in conjunction with the 71st birthday celebration of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

Likas assemblyman and state Assistant Finance Minister, Tan Lee Fatt, is among the recipients of the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) award, which carries the title 'Datuk'.

Tan is the sixth Sabah DAP member to violate the party's policy prohibiting elected representatives from accepting honorific titles while in office.

A few years ago, the late Datuk Stephen Wong, Datuk Jimmy Wong and Datuk Frankie Poon received their titles.

Last year, Datuk Ginger Phoong and Datuk Chan were reprimanded by the party's central executive committee (CEC).

Attempts to reach Tan for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
