BANGI: Pas has reaffirmed that none of its current members or leaders are affiliated with Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), an organisation declared deviant in three states.
According to Free Malaysia Today (FMT), Pas information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari clarified that those suspected of being involved with GISB were former party members or leaders who had left Pas before joining the group.
"Pas members are not involved in GISB. Those involved are individuals who left Pas earlier," he stated during a press conference held after a party event in Selangor.
This response came in light of rumours suggesting some Pas members and leaders were linked to GISB.
Previously, Pas secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the party welcomed the police probe into the group, but believed that the group's "positive aspects", such as its extensive business network, should be protected from "hasty and unjust actions".
However, the Kota Baru member of parliament affirmed that Pas supported a thorough and professional investigation into the allegations and advocated for strict action against any wrongdoers.
On Sept 14, Pas president Abdul Hadi Awang also denied any links between the party or its members with GISB.
Earlier today, Pahang became the latest state to declare GISB, along with its followers and employees, as deviant after Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah consented to the fatwa by the state's Syarak Consultative Committee.
This was after Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Senator Dr Zulkifli Hasan said that, following the conclusion of discussion by the National Council of Islamic Religious Affairs's Fatwa Committee, a collective decision by all quarters on a fatwa regarding the group could be reached this month.
