We're GIBS not GISB, says association

KUALA LUMPUR: A non-governmental organisation for Selangor professionals and entrepreneurs known by its acronym, GIBS, says it is unrelated to a GISB Holdings, the company at the centre of a police probe.

"We have no links to Global Ikhwan Sdn Bhd (GISB) Holdings," said Gabungan Profesional dan Usahawan Bumiputera Anak Selangor (GIBS) in a Facebook post.

It said its GIBS Ecotourism Resort was also unrelated to GISB.

"We hope with this clarification, any misunderstanding can be avoided."

There have been calls on social media to boycott businesses linked to GISB.

GISB is now the focus of a police investigation after raids were conducted on 20 welfare homes allegedly linked to the group last week. The raids saw 402 people, some as young as 1-year-old, rescued.

Police said the victims had endured various forms of exploitation and abuse, including being sodomised.

GISB has since denied the allegations of child exploitation and sexual abuse.
