KEPALA BATAS: Majlis Pengetua Sekolah Malaysia (MPSM) has submitted 12 resolutions to the government to enhance the national education system.
Among them are the establishment of the media teacher position in all schools, the refurbishment of teacher quarters in Sabah and Sarawak, swift solution of vacancies in management services and the creation of a new grade level for principals to allow for the promotion of senior assistants.
The resolutions were handed over to Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir at the 62nd National Education Management Conference at the Bertam Water Resort and Park here today (Oct 7).
He represented Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to launch the conference.
Zambry said the resolutions would be handed over to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the government's serious consideration.
He said the resolutions, developed after in-depth discussions and consultations with educators, were expected to have a significant impact on improving learning quality, strengthening teacher welfare, and enhance school infrastructure across the country.
"These resolutions are not demands, but rather hopes of all educators, particularly school principals.
Zambry said the most important issue to be addressed was the need for infrastructure improvements and similar matters.
"The most significant thing is that we can have a feedback process with the principals because they are educators, teachers and leaders in their respective schools.
"I am confident the prime minister will give attention to such issues."
Zambry said the prime minister placed great importance on basic matters, especially concerning schools in the country.
"As we know, when he became the prime minister, he focused on fundamental issues, even if they seemed small. But in the context of a school, issues like toilet conditions are given early attention.
"And this will extend to other matters, including connectivity in schools that they require."
