ALOR STAR: The Malaysia Entrepreneurs Development Association (PUMM) has called on the government to introduce incentives in Budget 2025 that will empower Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs).
Its Kedah and Perlis liaison chairman, Leonm Tang Kai Zhe, emphasised the need for stronger government support, citing global changes that have created a difficult business climate.
"Building connections with the government is crucial. There's a lack of communication between business groups and the authorities. We aim to work more closely together from now on.
"Our first priority is establishing cooperation with the state government. PUMM Kedah and Perlis have only been operational since March, and we need support to ensure local entrepreneurs continue to thrive," he said at a press conference after the launch of Northern Malaysia Entrepreneur Conference 2024 at Wisma Darul Aman today (Oct 8).
Present was state Human Resources Committee chairman Wong Chia Zhen.
Wong said the collaboration between the state government and PUMM will culminate at the Nov 9 conference.
"PUMM's partnership with the state government is vital in linking entrepreneurs to valuable resources, such as knowledge, networks and investment opportunities.
"This conference will allow Kedah entrepreneurs to connect with industry experts, gain insights and engage in discussions that will boost their competitiveness in an increasingly complex market," he added.
He said initiatives like these not only foster new ideas and more effective strategies, but also contribute to economic growth, enhancing the state's appeal as an investment destination.
