Petaling Jaya reports unhealthy API readings

KUALA LUMPUR: The air quality in Petaling Jaya, Selangor has worsened to unhealthy levels according to the air pollution index (API) as of 4pm today.

An update on the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) website revealed that the API reading in Petaling Jaya is currently at 104, having peaked at 120 at 10am today.

No other regions in the country are experiencing high API readings; 34 areas report good readings, while another 33 areas nationwide maintain moderate API levels.

APIMS calculates the API levels hourly to keep the public informed about current air quality, categorising the readings on a scale as follows: below 50 (good), 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy), and readings exceeding 300 as hazardous.
