Indonesian woman collapses during repatriation registration

KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesian woman collapsed while registering for the Migrant Repatriation Programme (PRM) to return to her home country.

The Penang Immigration Department said the 46-year-old, who suffers from diabetes and had chronic wounds on her legs, was abandoned by her compatriot upon their arrival at the department's branch office.

"Upon noticing the woman in distress and covered in faeces, several on-duty Immigration officers rushed to her aid.

"They facilitated all necessary arrangements, ensuring she would return safely to her home country on Oct 12, 2024," the Penang Immigration Department said in a statement.

It also congratulated the on duty Immigration officers for their empathy towards the woman and adherence to the department's practices under PERKASA.

The practice calls for Immigration staff to be aware, efficient, responsive and communicative while fulfilling the people's trust, and being courteous, friendly and adaptive.
