BACHOK: A total of 154 healthcare facility projects worth RM14.69 billion have been handled by the Public Works Department (PWD) between the 9th to 12th Malaysia Plans, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
He said 111 of the 154 projects were mooted under the four plans since 2006. The remaining 43 were under the 12th Malaysia Plan's rolling plan one to four.
A total of 52 projects had been completed at the cost of RM3.96 billion, 64 were still under construction (RM8.4 billion) and another 38 on the pre-construction stage (RM2.33 billion).
He said this at the handing-over ceremony of the newly completed Bachok Hospital project here today.
Fadillah, who is also the energy transition and water transformation minister, said the completed projects included those at Sri Manjung Hospital in Perak, Kajang Hospital in Selangor, and Baling Hospital in Kedah.
"Today, we have completed the RM71 million new Bachok Hospital project.
"This hospital was the third hospital in Kelantan that has been under my supervision since I became works minister eight years ago. The other two were in Kuala Krai and Tanah Merah," he added.
He hoped that the new hospital would provide better healthcare services to local residents.
"I also hope there will be no delay in the government's projects or any sick projects anymore because if this happens, it will not only affect the government's coffers, but the healthcare services to the people will also be affected," he added.
The new hospital project, costing about RM71 million, was completed in July and expected to be fully operational next month.
