GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Fatwa Committee has decided on the status concerning the teachings and beliefs of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB).
Penang Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Sukki Othman said the decision would be presented to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, for his consent.
"Yes, a decision has been on GISB's teachings' status.
"However, it must be presented to the King for his consent first.
"A press conference to announce the decision has been scheduled for Friday," he told the New Straits Times when contacted.
On Monday, Penang State Islamic Religious Council (MAINPP) president Datuk Mohamad Abdul Hamid said the state Fatwa Committee would decide whether the teachings and beliefs of GISB were deviant today.
The Perlis Fatwa Committee was the first state to declare GISB's beliefs and teachings deviant and un-Islamic.
This was followed by Selangor and Pahang.
On Monday, it was reported that the Melaka Fatwa Committee, which convened on Oct 3, issued a fatwa declaring the teachings and practices of GISB as deviant.
