GEORGE TOWN: A sinkhole that appeared in Taman Sri Nibong here today was caused by a leaking Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) pipe.
Pantai Jerejak assemblyman Fahmi Zainol said IWK will repair the sinkhole.
"The work will take around a week to complete," he said in a Facebook post.
Fahmi said road users should use alternative roads to Taman Sri Nibong from Krystal Point as the road will be temporarily closed to facilitate repairs.
Earlier this morning, a school bus was stuck after its tyre fell into the sinkhole. No one was injured in the incident.
Last month, a sinkhole appeared along Persiaran Gurney here.
The sinkhole occurred when a lorry loaded with bricks passed through a newly constructed sewage pipeline.
